Johannesburg - The High in Pretoria has authorised the seizure of assets belonging to Tlokwe municipality speaker Barei Segotso, the Beeld newspaper reported on Saturday.

The sheriff of the court was allowed to remove movable assets from Segotso worth R105,664, it reported.

The court granted the seizure warrant after Segotso and former Tlokwe mayor Maphetle Maphetle failed to fulfil a previous court order granted in August last year.

Maphetle and Segotso lodged an application in the High Court in Pretoria to nullify a council meeting at which he was unseated.

The application was dismissed by the court and the two were compelled to pay for the costs of the application they had lost.

Segotso told the Beeld she was unaware of the seizure warrant. - Sapa
