Rustenburg - A Democratic Alliance member and activist died in a freak accident in Lethabong near Rustenburg, the party said on Tuesday.

Provincial leader Joe McGluwa said Thabiso Seoke and party members were putting up election posters when the freak accident happened on Sunday.

“Thabiso tragically lost his life while erecting DA election posters. Flames were released from the electricity box on the pole he was working on. Out of respect for him and his family we simply cannot speculate on the cause of his death. We believe the autopsy will reveal whether his passing was due to electric shock or from the fall off the ladder,” he said.

He said Seoke was a committed member of the DA and worked hard to promote the DA’s message to the people of Rustenburg.

“We extend our sincere condolences to the Seoke family, friends, colleagues and the entire community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones and friends in this difficult time. We salute him for the voluntary work he did in his community and to promote the DA.”
