Two people killed when their light aircraft crashed into Modimolle dam, Mmabatho, have been identified, North West police said on Thursday.

They were Marthinus Steyn, 54, and Narco van Straaten, 23, police spokesman Brigadier Thulani Ngubane said.

The aircraft and the bodies were recovered from the dam on Wednesday.

Ngubane said the plane was about to land at the Mafikeng Airport on Tuesday when it crashed into the dam. - Sapa
