Kimberley – The 26-year-old man accused of raping and exposing his genitals to three young girls is still waiting to be admitted to the West End Psychiatric Hospital in Kimberley for observation.

Thapelo Gideon Molusi appeared in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on Monday on several charges, including rape, following an incident in Kimberley in November last year.

Molusi is facing three rape charges, two of compelling children to witness a sexual offence and three of assault following an alleged incident that took place at the West End Club in Schmidtsdrift Road during a “Movie Night under the Stars” event.

Molusi allegedly grabbed the three girls – aged seven, 10 and 12 – from the street and pushed them through a hole in a fence.

He then allegedly forced them to drink alcohol and raped two of the girls while the other watched.

Afterwards, he allegedly took them to another place in the area, stripped naked and, while displaying his genitals, instructed them to have sex with him. The children, however, managed to run away.

The three girls are reportedly all from Donkerhoek and were on their way home at the time of the incident.

They apparently knew Molusi by the name “Bekebeke.”

Magistrate Lance Roach on Monday postponed the matter to next month, after the State prosecutor indicated that there was still no bed available at West End Hospital and that Molusi was currently number 20 on the waiting list.

She, however, also raised doubts about whether a bed would become available during this time, saying that most patients on the waiting list were also accused persons in serious matters and had been waiting even longer than their 30-day observation period for a bed.
