Cape Town - Police have used stun grenades to the disperse the Phumlani village residents protesters that have gathered in Pelican Park. 

They were given five minutes to disperse until action would be taken.

Residents from the informal settlement were believed to have been in possession of pangas and said to have been throwing stones.

A community leader says they have been waiting for three decades for houses and services.

Jim se Bos informal settlement residents have said that they have also joined the Phumlani protesters.
