Johannesburg - Three government press briefings scheduled for Friday have been postponed following the death of former president Nelson Mandela.

The communications department, which was due to hold a briefing on digital migration, said it could not go ahead with the event because of Mandela's passing.

“We apologise for the short notice,” it said in a statement.

The community safety department cancelled the launch of a festive season law enforcement campaign at the Donkerhoek weigh bridge in Bronkhorstspruit.

The agriculture department made a similar announcement.

“Please be advised that the media conference that was planned... has been cancelled,” spokeswoman Palesa Mokomele said. - Sapa
