Cape Town student Chelsy Davy, described last week by Britain's Tatler magazine as the second most influential blonde in the world, turned up at her 21st birthday party as the gangster moll of Prince Harry on Friday night.
With the prince on her arm for the 1920s-style Great Gatsby-themed party in Green Point, the Zimbabwean-born economics student was screened from a jostling crowd of international paparazzi and local media by an impenetrable ring of security at the plush Beluga restaurant.
A mix of feather boas, tasselled dresses and three-piece pinstriped suites adorned the guests as they strode up the red carpet outside Beluga, to be greeted by flashes from hordes of photographers.
Prince Harry, dressed as a mobster, arrived in a hurry in a car chauffeured by Davy's brother Shaun at about 8.30pm.
Davy arrived in an elegant emerald flapper dress.
Despite black curtains, the silhouette of a big screen with a picture of Davy as a little girl could be seen. There was also a plain white cake with candles. A saxophone played Happy birthday".
The British media have claimed that Davy's parents spent R250 000 on the party.
It has been reported that Harry is keen to get Chelsy to move to Britain when her studies finish next month.

Chelsy's potential stepmother-in-law, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, was sixth.
