Johannesburg - Matric pupils in Mpumalanga will not be affected by an omission in their Mathematics question paper due to a printing error, quality assurer Umalusi said on Tuesday.

“There was a printing error at the province' printers on Mathematics Paper 2 and a circle on a graph in question six was omitted. Candidates struggled with the question,” said chief executive Mafu Rakometsi.

Only pupils in Mpumalanga were affected. There were no similar problems in other provinces.

“During the marking discussion meetings, the exact extent to which candidates were disadvantaged by the omission will be determined and the marking memorandum will be adjusted accordingly.”

The paper was written two weeks ago.

The national department of education sent question papers to provinces where they were then printed and packaged, said Rakometsi. - Sapa
