This is an absolutely idiotic policy. Firstly, I want the best for my kids, and the department is NOT providing it, therefore I am quite happy to pay the school fees because I can *see* the value it has in my kids results. Secondly, the reason given for this ban is stupid. Bonuses are a paltry fraction of the school's budget. The biggest portion of the budget is given to just employing sufficient teachers to sustain a reasonable pupil to teacher ratio. At the school my son attends, the department pays for 14 positions, and the governing body for a further 38, so we can sustain a ratio of 26 pupils per classroom. That is why the school fees are so high. Anything else is mere pocket change.
