It is almost a year since the police completed an investigation into the release of DVDs and video tapes which secretly filmed a steamy sex session allegedly featuring former MEC of Arts, Culture and Tourism, Narend Singh.
In July last year SAPS spokesperson Dir Bala Naidoo said there would be prosecutions in the matter after the incident, showing Singh having sex allegedly with Rosanna Narandas, in a city hotel room in March, after the release of the DVDs and video tapes to the public.
Naidoo said files from the investigation had been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions Office in order to decide whether a suspect linked to the filming and distribution of the sex romp material should be arrested and charged.
The steamy DVD led to the political downfall of Singh, who stepped down as MEC of Arts, Culture and Tourism within days after the affair was made public.
Naidoo said two cases of extortion and crimen injuria had been opened against the people responsible for the filming and distribution of the DVDs.
But almost a year later nothing has happened and no one has been prosecuted.
When contacted for comment, National Prosecutions Authority's communications officer Lucinda Moonieya said: "The Director of Public Prosecutions in the region, Shamila Batohi, has not yet taken a decision in this matter."
