Andries Tatane was killed during a service delivery protest in Ficksburg.
There is a strong case for slain protester Andries Tatane's family to sue the state for compensation, Eyewitness News reported on Sunday.
Council for the Advancement of the SA Constitution (Casac) spokesman Lawson Naidoo said the organisation would meet Tatane's family to explore the options open to them. Casac would consult with the family over the next two weeks.
The family's civil law suit was expected to be directed against Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa or National Commissioner Bheki Cele.
