Paramedics said on Sunday that two suspected robbers had been shot and killed while allegedly trying to rob a man in Gillespie Street, Durban.
Netcare 911 spokesman Jeff Wicks said the incident had happened on Saturday morning.
"While what transpired remains vague and will be the subject of a police investigation, it is alleged that the two demanded cash and valuables from a man, and the man, in self-defence, produced a firearm and shot his assailants," he said.
Wicks added that one of the suspected robbers had sustained a single gunshot wound to the head and the other had sustained a wound to the shoulder.
"Both men died prior to the arrival of paramedics at the scene," he said. - Sapa
