Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights is celebrated between October and November. This year Sunday, 30 October will see Hindus across South Africa celebrating the festival with a traditional fireworks display, and of course delectable festive food.
The festival is associated with Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity, and marks the beginning of the financial year in India.
