Cape Town - The Electronic Gaming Expo (EGE) will be hitting Cape Town this weekend with a diverse gaming experience for fans, competitive and casual gamers and it appeals to the non-gamers looking to interact with a hub of ‘geek culture’.

We caught up with Zombiegamer’s very own Clint O’Shea (aka Zombie Dredd),who also works with African Cyber Gaming League (ACGL).

He is very excited to be part of hosting gaming tournaments for pupils at the #egeXperience at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

“On Friday we’re hosting a specific schools day as we call it. R20 for the kids to come in. Those kids in (school) uniform will also be able to participate in a FIFA 17 and Injustice 2 tournaments, with cash prizes up for grabs.”

O’Shea unpacked the ‘behind the scenes’ initiatives with various schools, where he emphasised the exposure and enhance the growth of “Esports locally”.

He said that he has worked closely with the City of Cape Town as well, with the idea of hosting more gaming events at various schools.

O’Shea is also working with an associate in Khayelitsha, who hosts FIFA tournaments for children in the area.

He said that this will boost more access to gaming and will be getting some of the children to EGE this weekend at the CTICC.

“Again it’s just to introduce a development culture of competitive gaming for people who maybe aren’t aware of it, and to allow them access to the technology.”

This year, the event will once again showcase gaming stations for all to play, including competitions, board games, cosplay competitions and craft markets among other attractions.
