On April 27, 1994 millions of South Africans voted for the first time in the country's first democratic election.

Since then, the South African political landscape has shifted considerably.

South Africa's first democratically elected president, Nelson Mandela, has died. But are the dreams and aspirations that Mandela and his contemporaries had for South Africa being carried forward?

We spoke to IOL readers about how they felt on that historic day... and how they feel about the state of South Africa now.
