Residents of Hangberg marched through Cape Town to protest against the court cases against them. The community was also marching in support of the Imizamo Yeth informal settlement who appeared in court today, also facing eviction.
The memorandum, handed over at the Western Cape Provincial Legislature, requests that the court cases be dropped, that the previous memorandum be responded to, and the Province and the police be held accountable for the violent outbreak in Hangberg on 21 September 2010.
