Cape Town - Divers will continue searching for a nine-year-old boy who fell into the Elsieskraal River, in Cape Town, the city said on Thursday.

Spokesman Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said the boy was playing alongside the river when he slipped and was swept away by the current on Wednesday.

“It is believed that the boy has drowned,” he said.

The search and rescue mission was halted in the early hours on Thursday because of the strong current in the river, rain and poor visibility. - Sapa
