Cape Town - An eight-year-old boy swept out to sea in Hermanus has still not been found, Western Cape police said on Monday.

“The sea is not conducive for the divers to dive,” said Captain Frederick van Wyk.

“They (divers) patrolled and searched the beaches in the area. The body of the (boy) has not been found as yet.”

On Friday, the National Sea Rescue Institute said the boy was swept out of a tidal pool during an incoming tide.

He was believed to have been with friends at the time.

A search was started on Friday but was hampered by rough sea conditions.
