Cape Town cops search for woman who dumped newborn baby

Cape Town - Police in Cape Town are searching for a woman who abandoned a newborn baby at a place of safety in Goodwood recently.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant  Noloyiso Rwexana, said in a statement on Wednesday that the Bellville Family Violence Children and Sexual Offences (FCS)  unit was seeking the assistance of the public in tracing the whereabouts of "a woman who abandoned a baby on 23  June 2017". 

She said according to information a newborn baby of a few days old  was found abandoned at Ubuntu House in Goodwood.

Ubuntu house is a registered Child and Youth Care Centre which takes care of babies from birth to two years who have been abandoned, orphaned, neglected or who was born out of an unplanned and crisis pregnancy.  

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the woman or family members of the baby is requested to contact the investigating officer Constable Dada of Bellville FCS unit on  021- 592 7092 or 082 522 1095, alternatively contact Pink Ladies National no: 072 214 7439/083 378 4882.
