Johannesburg - Two men, aged 28 and 54, were arrested and charged for dealing drugs after they were found with Mandrax tablets valued at R475 000 in Lavender Hill, police said in a statement on Monday.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut, said the arrest was made Sunday evening during a Public Order Police unit operation in Hillview in Lavender Hill.

"The search led police to the backyard where a steel trunk buried in the ground was found, comprising 8 990 mandrax tablets with a street value of R 475,000." Traut said the men are due to make a court appearance in Muizenberg on Tuesday.
