Cape Town - Two fisherman from Lambert's Bay on the West Coast were guided back to shore on Thursday after losing their way in thick fog, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) said.

NSRI spokesman Craig Lambinon said the men waited out Wednesday night on their small, open fishing boat and dropped anchor until the fog cleared.

Sea rescue craft found the men nine nautical miles (17km) north of Lambert's Bay on Thursday morning and guided them back to the harbour.
