Western Cape - Four people died when a truck and a bakkie collided head-on in the Karoo on Monday morning, Western Cape traffic chief Kenny Africa said.
He said the vehicles had been travelling on the N1 between Leeu-Gamka and Laingsburg when they collided around 7am.
“The driver of the truck died in the accident. His passenger fell out the vehicle and was slightly injured. All three occupants in the bakkie also died.”
Africa said the N1 between Laingsburg and Beaufort West was a hotspot for accidents and would be monitored closely over the Easter weekend.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation would be assisting with 20 additional officers and 10 marked vehicles. - Sapa
