Johannesburg - The Western Cape town of Grabouw was quiet on Wednesday after violent protests erupted earlier this week, police said.
“It is quiet. Grabouw is quiet,” Warrant Officer November Filander said.
Police were monitoring the area.
Eleven people accused of public violence appeared in the Grabouw Magistrate's Court on Tuesday and were released on a warning.
Charges against 10 others were temporarily withdrawn due to insufficient evidence.
The matter was postponed to May 21.
The group were arrested after tyres were set alight on the N2 during a protest.
Residents burned down the Umyezo Wama Apile School, demanding additional facilities and an end to overcrowding.
Protesters also burned down two ward councillors' homes and a municipal building. - Sapa
