Cape Town - A hiker who got lost on Table Mountain was airlifted to safety on Monday morning, the Western Cape health department said.

Spokeswoman Angelique Jordaan said the department's emergency medical services received a call about the missing hiker around 1am, after a flashing light was spotted near Kasteelspoort.

She said the hiker was tracked via cellphone.

He was not hurt.
