Cape Town - The annual Koeberg nuclear power station emergency exercise was completed this week without incident.

The Western Cape Disaster Management Centre’s drill has emergency personnel and Eskom employees react to different “nuclear-based” scenarios and simulations at the power station, located 30km north of Cape Town.

“The exercise considers disaster entities’ operational readiness and response times, as well as their ability to act and react to dynamic changes under pressure,” said Local Government MEC Anton Bredell.

It was “successfully completed” on Thursday evening. The exercise simulated “unforseen events”.
