Cape Town - A protest has flared up in Pelican Park forcing the closure of several main roads in the vicinity. Residents from Phumlani village took to the streets burning tyres and rubble and blocking roads.
Strandfontein Road between Barbet and 18th Avenue is closed to traffic, and commuters are battling to get into or out of Pelican Park. Traffic has been diverted through New Horizons into Buck Road.
Traffic authorities are suggesting that commuters use Baden Powell Drive into PG Drive or Jakes Gerwel onto the N2.
