Cape Town - A man was lucky to escape serious injury when his car crashed into a bus and became wedged underneath it in Newmarket Street in Cape Town on Friday, Western Cape paramedics said.

ER24 paramedics, Life Healthcare, and Community Medics attended to the incident.

On arrival at the scene, paramedics found the car wedged underneath the bus,” ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said.

“The man was found lying on the side of the road. It is understood that community members had removed the man, believed to be in his 30s, from the car. Upon assessment it was found that the man sustained minor injuries.”

He was treated and transported to New Somerset Hospital for further medical care.

The driver of the bus was uninjured.

The cause of the accident was unknown, Bodasing said.
