Cape Town - A man was critically injured when the car he was driving caught alight after crashing into trees on the N7 in Goodwood, Cape Town, early on Saturday morning, Western Cape paramedics said.

ER24, Life Healthcare, and other services attended to the incident,” ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said.

“It is understood that the passenger removed the man from the vehicle. Paramedics treated the man and transported him to hospital. The passenger was uninjured.”

At the same time, a car collided with a taxi in the lane in the opposite direction of travel.

“Upon assessment of the patients from the car it was found that two women sustained moderate injuries. They were also treated and transported to hospital. The third occupant in this vehicle, a man, and the taxi driver were uninjured.”

The cause of the accidents were unknown, Bodasing said.
