Cape Town - A man was killed when his plane crashed on a farm near the M19 in Melkbosstrand on Tuesday, Western Cape paramedics said.

“Paramedics arrived on the farm to find the light aircraft completely ablaze and the surrounding veld burning rapidly,” ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said in a statement.

“The pilot of the aircraft was killed when the plane crashed into the field and burst into flames.

He said provincial services were on the scene to extinguish the fire. The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.
