Cape Town - One person died and 26 people were injured when a bus collided with another vehicle on Landsdowne Road in Philippi in Cape Town on Tuesday evening.

ER24 reported that one person sustained serious injuries and at least 25 people sustained minor to moderate injuries.

“It is understood that a bus collided with another vehicle and landed on its side. When ER24 paramedics and other services arrived arrived on scene they found two people trapped in the bus. They were extricated by Fire and Rescue Services and Metro Services. They were assessed. Unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for one of the people,” ER24 said.

“The person had sustained multiple severe injuries. The person was declared dead. The second person sustained serious injuries. The patient was treated and transported to hospital.”

Most of the other passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries. The exact cause of the collision was unknown but authorities were on scene for further investigations.
