Cape Town - A man was killed and two other people critically injured on Thursday when a truck collided with a car and a bakkie on the N1 near Worcester, Western Cape, paramedics said.

The bakkie's driver was found dead trapped inside his vehicle, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said.

The jaws-of-life were used to free two patients trapped in the truck and the car.

The truck's cargo of oil barrels was scattered across the highway. The cause of the accident was not known.
