One hurt as train collides with car

No pedastrians to push you out of the way or stomp on your toes. No train to complete your suicide attempt. So go ahead, indulge in those inner thoughts. Picture: Oupa Mokoena

Cape Town - A woman was injured when a passenger train hit her car in Bottelary Road, Stellenbosch, in the Western Cape on Tuesday, paramedics said.

“Paramedics arrived on scene to find the woman, who suffered moderate injuries, sitting in her light motor vehicle,” ER24

spokesman Russel Meiring said.

The woman's injuries were assessed on the scene and she was put on a board to support her spine before being taken to hospital.

Eyewitnesses told paramedics that it appeared the woman did not notice the train was coming as she drove over the railway tracks.

No passengers on the train were injured in the accident.
