One killed, seven injured in Somerset West collision

Cape Town - One man was killed and seven others injured on Sunday night when a minibus and light motor vehicle collided on the N2 in Somerset West in the Western Cape.

ER24 paramedics, Life Healthcare and Metro Services found two wrecked vehicles on the side of the road. The vehicles sustained heavy amount of damage.

Paramedics found the body of a man lying trapped inside the minibus and several were found lying around the scene.

The man trapped in the minibus had sustained several injuries and showed no signs of life.

He was declared dead at the scene.

One patient was found in a critical condition while two others were found in a serious condition. 

Four patients were found on the scene with moderate injuries.

The critically and seriously injured were treated with advanced life support interventions and thereafter, the patients were taken to Tygerberg and Helderberg Hospitals for further care.

Specialised equipment was used to free the deceased from the vehicle.

Details surrounding this incident are still unknown.
