Cape Town - The “Prophet” who went to heaven and took selfies as proof claims he has lost his cellphone.

Pastor Mboro, who said he ascended to heaven on Easter Sunday two week ago, this week told journalists his Samsung Galaxy S5, which he used to photograph the heavens, has disappeared.

Soon after returning from the promised land, Mboro said he was willing to share his photos with people, but they had to “pledge” R5 000 to his church first.

This caused an outcry, with people calling it a scam.

This prompted Mboro on Sunday to say he will release the pictures for free on his Facebook page.

However, on Tuesday, he said he couldn’t post his selfies because his phone got stolen at a car wash in Katlehong.

One of Mboro’s bodyguards claims the pictures were real and he has seen it with his own eyes. “The pictures were really there, I saw them. We suspect one of the boys washing the Prophet’s car took the phone. But they all denied taking it, even after we beat them them,” the bodyguards told journalists.

Mboro claims spawned dozens of funny internet memes as people gave their own interpretation of his photos.

One meme showed him with the snake in the garden of Eden, while another showed Mboro’s face peeping from between the clouds.
