Cape Town - An 18-year-old teenager is missing after being swept out to sea in Muizenberg, Cape Town, the National Sea Rescue Institute said on Monday.
A 25-year-old woman, her 15-year-old niece and an 18-year-old not related to them were wading in the surf at Sunrise Beach on Sunday around 5.30pm when they were caught in a rip current and swept out to sea, spokesman Craig Lambinon said in a statement.
The 15-year-old was rescued by the woman's husband, and she was rescued by a bystander.
“Lifeguards... initiated a search for the 18-year-old male who had disappeared under water.”
By Sunday night he had not been found. A police dive unit took over the ongoing search operation. - Sapa
