Two police officers were killed on duty in Kraaifontein, Cape Town, on Sunday, Western Cape police said.

Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut said the officers were “gunned down in cold blood while attending a routine compliant at an informal dwelling situated in Wallacedene, Kraaifontein” just after 1am.

He said they attended a complaint on the corners of Pedro and Boesak streets, and soon after their arrival they were approached by an armed group of people.

The 39-year-old Warrant Officer and the 23-year-old Student Constable were both shot in the head and robbed of their service pistols.

Traut said the suspects fled the scene and were not yet arrested.

Provincial Commissioner of the Western Cape Police, Lieutenant General Arno Lamoer, urged community members to come forward with any information that could help in the investigation of the case.

“We will not stop our search for these killers, until we find them,” Lamoer said. - Sapa

"We will not stop our search for these killers, until we find them,” Lamoer said By any chance can the police be this committed to finding all the other killers in the country? I agree, whats the points when all the 'prisoners' get a better life in jail than everyone earning below the average? What is the cost per month to keep a prisoner in jail vs the salary of the low income earner?

Condolences to the families of the fallen officers, Looks like the Police force in general is starting to pay for the corruption within its ranks, the total disregard for the police and lack of respect or fear being shown is as a direct result of the corruption being allowed by police management and the brutality and superior attitude of the men and woman on the ground. Very few people have any faith in the police especially in the upper classes of society where the police are openly referred to as low life criminals.

Benson don't go there. Cape Town has always had this kind of thing. Remember PAGAD and gangsters attacking Police stations for their ammunition in the 90s. Staggie before Rashad's death assaulting police officers and the list goes on. Nothing new. As long as you have the Americans, Hard Livings, 28, 27, 26 aligned gangs etc, drugs etc you will always have this. his has nothing to do DA or ANC or race or whatever. It's probably some low-ranking gangster street thugs using violent evil means to make cash and it's an issue that whoever is in government will have to deal with.

These two poor souls were set up. The motive was robbery of their fire-arms and their murder was premeditated. Find the culprits and deliver justice the old fashioned way.
