Cape Town - Starting from the humble beginnings in Athlone, Jean Marc Johannes started skating about 11 years ago and from then, never looked back.

He has received many accolades. Last year, he was invited to represent South Africa at the FISE world series in China where he was placed first.

He also debuted as the first South African skateboarder on Tony Hawk's channel (yes, that Tony Hawk.)

On Tuesday, he turned a bridge in Paarden Eiland crossing Liesbeek river into a skate park.

The bridge is only a 1m wide so one can only imagine the pressure and adrelanine pumping though Jean-Marc's veins.

However, he is not new to the pressures of skating contests.

In 2016, he competed at the FISE World Series in China, where he was placed first.

So what is next for the 26-year-old skater?

He was invited to compete and represent our country in Paris at the world cup skate boarding and Johannes is pretty excited about that.

He is also part of the Red Heart Rum Crew.

The crew consists of Kwesta, Breyton Paulsen, Falko One and Hussain Roos.

The Red Heart Rum might be well known as a liquor of choice for some, but this crew promotes people to live to the fullest and whatever dreams they may have, to try and accomplish them.
