Cape Town – The City of Cape Town has dismissed reports that water would be cut off to households on Sunday as part of a move to intensify water restrictions.

The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Informal Settlements, Water and Waste Services, and Energy, Councillor Xanthea Limberg has distanced the city from the report.

“We don’t know who posted the incorrect report. It certainly didn’t come from us. It came from an individual whom we don’t know," she said.

Limberg said although the city was considering implementing level 3b water restrictions as of 1 February, water cuts were not on the cards.
