Cape Town - The family of slain mom of two, Zarah Jane Hector, say they will finally see the beginning of justice as the murder trial is set to start in the Western Cape High Court on Moday.

Hector, 33, from Kuils River went missing on 14 March, 2016 with her boyfriend’s BMW Z3, and her body was found 10 days later, dumped on a farm in the Klein Drakenstein.

The two men accused of beating her to death with a hammer were known to her, but not her family.

Ronaldo van Rooyen, 33, from Kuils River and Tawfeeq Ebrahim, 26, Malibu Village have been charged with murder, defeating the ends of justice and robbery of a vehicle.

The accused allegedly killed Zarah because she owed them drug money.

Ebrahim’s grandmother is ex-deputy mayor, Gawa Samuels, while Van Rooyen’s father is a retired police officer.

Zarah was allegedly killed in Van Rooyen’s garage, bludgeoned over the head five times with a hammer, and later dumped.

She was last seen alive driving her berk’s BMW away from his business, the Oostenberg Lodge, on Old Nooiensfontein Road in Kuils River.

The Hector family said they would be out in full force with their supporters wearing pink T-shirts, branded with Zarah’s picture and #JusticeForZarah.

Brother Brendan Hector said he has been meeting with the National Prosecuting Authority at the High Court and has “full trust” in the SA justice system.

“We as a family feel strong and hopeful for a positive outcome and that justice will be served on those two murderers for the brutal and senseless killing of Zarah.”
