Johannesburg - Economic Freedom Fighters supporters have started to gather at Pieter Roos Park in Johannesburg ahead of a planned march to the SABC.

EFF members wearing red berets were singing and dancing as they waited for more buses to bring in supporters.

They were singing “Si zo votela uMalema” (we will vote for Malema) and “Malema is going, make way for him”.

The march is in protest over the public broadcaster refusing to air the party's election commercial.

The SABC claims the advert incites violence. The matter was taken to the Independent Communications Authority of SA which ruled in favour of the broadcaster.

The advertisement contained a slogan that the party would “destroy e-tolls physically!” if people voted for them.

Johannesburg Metro police spokesman Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said traffic would be affected around Auckland Park due to the march.

“The march will start on the corner of Empire and Victoria Roads and proceed in a westerly direction on Empire towards the SABC,” he said. - Sapa
