Rustenburg - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) will “finish” the ANC in the May 7 election, supporters said on Tuesday.

“We will bury them tomorrow. The ANC is finished. Their time is up,” said Kgomotso Pule.

He was one of EFF supporters waiting for party leader Julius Malema at the Rustenburg taxi rank.

They carried a mock coffin draped in ANC yellow T-shirts.

“This is Zuma's final journey. Rest in peace,” he said.

The group kicked the coffin around before setting it alight.

“His ghost will go to Nkandla,” they said.

Malema was on a last-minute campaign drive in the volatile platinum belt to drum up support for his party ahead of Wednesday's national and provincial elections.

He urged striking mineworkers in Freedom Park and Marikana near Rustenburg not to boycott the election.

“If you do not vote you will be ruled by people you do not like.

“Tomorrow go to your voting station to vote for a change.”

He told mineworkers that if they did not vote they would be helping the ANC remain in power.

He told a crowd of about 5000 that President Jacob Zuma built matchbox-size houses for people but a R1 million kraal for his cattle in Nkandla.

“Do not give Zuma your vote. Ditch Zuma's T-shirts Ä they promise a better life for his cattle.”

Mineworkers affiliated to the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union at Impala, Lonmin and Anglo American Platinum operations in Rustenburg, North West and Northam in Limpopo downed tools on January 23 demanding a basic salary of R12,500 per month.
