Pretoria – On Wednesday sees the first of four public memorials for anti-apartheid Struggle veteran Ahmed Kathrada.

The event in Pretoria at 6:30pm, will be addressed by former finance minister Pravin Gordhan and Father Smangaliso Mkhatshwa.

Gordhan will also address similar events organised by the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation at St George's Cathedral in Cape Town on Thursday, in Lenasia on Friday and Durban on Sunday.

The Pretoria event will be hosted at the Greek Hall in Lynnwood Road near the University of Pretoria.

Gordhan received a standing ovation at Kathadra’s funeral but the next day was ousted from the cabinet by President Jacob Zuma.
