Seshego, Limpopo - EFF leader Julius Malema and his 85 year-old grandmother, Sarah, have joined a long queue at a voting station in Seshego.

In the past, while still ANC Youth League president, Malema never stood in line to vote.

He arrived under the protection of five personal guards.

Throughout the slow-moving queue, Malema held on to his grandmother's hand.

While Malema's grandmother endured standing in the queue, other elderly persons were made to sit on chairs by IEC officials on the other side of the voting hall.

Malema chatted with other voters in the queue and posed for photographs.

Earlier, a clash between EFF and ANC members ensued outside the voting station over the distribution of ANC T-shirts.

EFF provincial co-ordinator Jossie Buthane argued that the distribution of ANC T-shirts was tantamount to campaigning, saying this was a violation of the electoral act.

But the chairman of the ANC's Milo Malatjie branch and Malema's foe claimed the electoral act did not prohibit the distribution of T-shirts if it's done 100m away from the voting station.
