Pretoria - Former president Nelson Mandela's daughter, Zenani Mandela-Dlamini, South Africa's ambassador to Argentina, visited him at the Pretoria hospital where he spent a 12th day receiving treatment on Wednesday.

Mandela-Dlamini was with Mandela's grandchildren Zoleka Mandela-Seakamela and Zaziwe Dlamini-Manaway, and her husband, US businessman David Manaway.

The Mandelas drove through the security checkpoint in Park Street in a black SUV.

Mandela was also visited at the Medi-Clinic Heart Hospital on Wednesday by his ex-wife Winnie Madikizela-Mandela and her daughter Zindzi Mandela-Motlhajwa.

Mandela, 94, was admitted to the hospital on June 8 for treatment of a recurring lung infection.

He was “doing very well”, Mandela-Dlamini said while collecting get well cards outside the hospital on Monday.

Fewer police officers were manning the hospital's entrances on Wednesday. The number of journalists outside had also dwindled.

Well-wishers have adorned the hospital's perimeter wall with cards, bouquets of flowers, balloons, sculptures, and flags. - Sapa
