Pretoria - Along with murder, paralympian Oscar Pistorius faces a charge of allegedly contravening the Firearms Control Act, the National Prosecuting Authority said on Monday.
The charges were not read out in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court where the double-amputee appeared briefly on Monday.
The case against Pistorius was transferred to the High Court in Pretoria and will run from March 3 to 20 next year.
Pistorius is accused of shooting dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in his Pretoria home on February 14.
Magistrate Desmond Nair served an indictment on Pistorius, and asked if he would arrange his own defence and witnesses.
“I am,” said the double-amputee.
After another question from the magistrate, Pistorius said he was satisfied with the provisions that his legal team had made.
After the brief appearance, Pistorius was embraced by his family before they were escorted out of the courthouse by about 20 police officers.
Earlier in the morning, Pistorius arrived at court and prayed with his brother Carl and sister Aimee, who were seen wiping away tears. - Sapa
