London - She disappeared 75 years ago today, but are we one step closer to finding out what really happened to American aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart?

The intrepid pilot disappeared with her navigator somewhere over the Pacific in July 1937.

Now a jar of Thirties freckle cream, found on the uninhabited Pacific island of Nikumaroro, is being cited as evidence that Earhart made it to land after ditching in the sea.

Researchers unearthed pieces of a jar of Dr Berry’s Freckle Ointment and a cosmetic compact of that era. And one of the biggest fears Amelia admitted to having is freckles. - Daily Mail
