Kiev - At least 12 people were killed when a train collided with a shuttle bus on a level crossing in Ukraine, news reports said Tuesday. The collision in the Sumy region in northern Ukraine injured another five people, the Interfax news agency reported, citing local emergency service officials.

Ukrainian media reports said the bus was torn in two pieces by the train.

Railway officials blamed the bus driver for the accident.

The driver ignored a red signal when he drove across the level crossing without gates, an unnamed source in the Ukrainian state railway company said, according to Interfax.
