Hanover -
German police are investigating the cause of a baby's death, officials said on Tuesday, after a Ghanaian mother accused a Hanover hospital of turning her away because of missing paperwork.
The mass-circulation newspaper Bild quoted the woman as saying that her one-month-old child had died an hour after Auf der Bult Children's Hospital refused treatment because she did not have a doctor's note.
Kathrin Soefker, a spokeswoman for the city prosecutor's office, said a post-mortem examination had been conducted on Monday. A report would not be available until next week, she said.
The hospital declined to comment on the allegation, saying it could not speak about a pending investigation. - Sapa-dpa
