Boat sinks off China

Beijing -

Eleven people were killed when their boat sank in heavy weather off eastern China, a news report said Tuesday.

The container vessel Guangyangxingang capsized and sank late Monday 75 kilometres north-east of Longkou, a coastal town in Shandong province, 300 kilometres south-east of Beijing.

A rescue team, including boats and a helicopter, recovered one unconscious crew member and 11 bodies.

The vessel was on its way from Tianjin, a port near Beijing, to Taizhou, north of Shanghai. - Sapa-dpa
