Washington - A police explosives removal squad on Friday was at the family home of the brothers suspected in the Boston Marathon bombings, US media reported.

The neighbourhood was evacuated around the home in Cambridge, Massachusetts, of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, who is a fugitive, and his brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, who was slain in an overnight shootout with police.

Neil Scullion, who lives about a block from family house, told the broadcaster CNN that police knocked on his door about 8:30 am (1230 GMT) and asked him to leave his house. Scullion said he and his wife then left their apartment with their infant son and dog. - Sapa-dpa
